Firhad Hakim's OSD Kalicharan arrested in Taratala warehouse collapse case
A woman allegedly entered the Metro tracks at Masterda Surya Sen station in Kolkata in an apparent attempt to move from one platform to another, triggering panic among passengers and prompting an immediate response from Metro authorities. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the woman walking along the tracks while Metro trains were approaching from both directions. Passengers on the platforms waved frantically and shouted to alert train operators, after which the trains came to a halt, preventing a potentially fatal accident.
The incident has generated widespread discussion over passenger safety inside the Metro system. According to Metro authorities, the third rail carries high-voltage electricity and direct contact with it can result in instant death. Officials reiterated that passengers must never enter the track area under any circumstances and warned that attempting to cross the tracks places both the individual and train operations at serious risk.
Metro authorities also stated that passengers who board the wrong platform should use designated pedestrian routes and station facilities instead of attempting to cross the tracks. Officials noted that trespassing onto railway tracks is a punishable offence and may attract legal action and penalties. The viral video has renewed concerns over passenger awareness and adherence to Metro safety regulations.
